    Default AMD - Athlon II 245 or Athlon 64 x2 5050e processor

I obtained a motherboard holds AM2/AM2+. So I think Athlon II 245 (AM3) is also carried on my motherboard because of rearward compatibility.

Not certain which CPU is quicker working with my motherboard?

    Athlon II 245 (AM3) or Athlon 64 x2 5050e (AM2).

I doing a benchmark check I couldn't precisely discover the Athlon II 245 on there (but it did contain the a little sooner 250) and I evaluated it to an Athlon 64 X2 4850e which is a quite slower than the 5050e.

There was pretty a dissimilarity. You will have to obtain the non precise CPU's in contrast but taking that into account it appears the Athlon II 245 would have improved presentation.

Since my motherboard is not accurately an AM3 motherboard, now an AM2/AM2+ motherboard.

Any presentation punishment if I employ AM3 CPU on it?

You should be certain about your motherboard previous to improvement. Most AM2 motherboards won't hold AM3 CPU's but most AM2+ motherboards will.

Be sure to check the manufacturer brand and model number of your motherboard, attend their support website under CPU's and be certain to see if the CPU is really supported.
I would do that foremost before preferring any CPU improve.

Maybe you have already completed this then yet again maybe not. There is a presentation hit in with an AM2+ motherboard for AM3 CPU's depending upon memory kind. It’s not too bad though only a few percent losses.

Athlon 64 x2 5050e is directed be quicker and enhanced for the Mobo you have. It’s akin to a Ford and a Ferrari both once run in the city and the on a F1 track. Your Mobo is the City road kind and the AM3 is the Ferrari type..... So it's quite much sad.....

I just did it, you're still using or thinking of placing the Ferrari into the road, I purchased the Athlon II X4 260 and put it into my Village road Mobo AM2 socket... M2N32 SLI.
Although it works well, but my Athlon 64 X2 4400+ provided me an actual good boot up time.

This one takes pretty a bit; I appreciate why, but believe me. If you're not thinking of improvement your Mobo for the next year to arrive. go for the Athlon 64 x2 5050e
or enhanced yet go in for the AMD Athlon X2 7750 it maybe about 20 dollars above the 5050e but it is positively enhanced and of course requires a little bit more power....lol that’s twice the authority of a 5050e in TDP.

    Hello All

Go for the AM3 if you arrangement to improve our mobo in the next 6 months, choose the 5050e if you arrangement to advance your mobo after a year.

I just purchased this new mobo (AM2/AM2+) for a common reason system for my daughter. So this will be up for administration another 3 years as a minimum I believe. So if the Athlon II x2 245 is inexpensive than Athlon 64 x2 5050e, then should I go for the 245?

Definitely, it will last extender than 3 yrs with AM3 possibly 4.5 and after the existence is up you can buy an AM3 and get a small increase or just acquire a new mobo once new sockets appear.

Yes, exit for the 245, but I would akin to recognize the model of the mobo and the other marginal you already have since that is what is bound for last you for the next 3 years.
The AM3 is, decided, repeal like-minded with the AM2+ Socket boards but the rest of the stuff is what causes the main hiccups like the RAM the HDD the Graphics card etc and let’s not overlook the heat output.

For common purpose? It's a relative word but I get it as functioning mostly on the net and word, excel, power-point. Slightly of low end gaming and some usual hifi music listening.

The 245 would be a great purchase for that type of custom. Yes, you can promote to an AM3 socket board to get the full custom of the new processor after a year, that would be a nice idea and then the year after that you can change above to DDR3's making it entirely new PC. And expectantly by then the DDR3's would be dirt cheap so it's a 100% win to obtain the 245.

By that time I deduction The Fusion and the Bulldozer would already be out and for all you recognize, they might be backwards friendly with the AM3 sockets.....
