Thread: What is causing this? Hardware related?

Generally DMA errors usually points out 1 of 3 components, RAM, HDD or Northbridge...
You stated that you reseated the RAM, I suppose you have 2x 1 GB modules, a rapid test is to remove one DIMM, try to boot, if it doesn't work attempt the other DIMM. It’s the simple one to exclude.Next one is typically as Upendra09 suggested HDD. And it’s never a bad thought to endorsement the data.My money is on memory since the indications changed after a reseat...
But since ECS and VIA is in the picture we can't be certain.

Sorry for being so small before. As I tacit it if it was the HD worsening it would have been a DMA 3 error. The site I connected to in my previous post explains DMA much better than I can. I still imagine your HD is ok and if it’s not an insert in card then the Northbridge is about to fail. I have been mistaken previous to though once or twice.Hope you can acquire it fixed. You could obtain the HDD out and place in to the despicable PC and check it away to observe if the HDD was awful or the RAM if they both work well then your mobo is shot.

That's accurately what I did. It produced to be the hard drive. Luckily, Windows 7 was able to revamp it enough to acquire the data off. I'm even tempted to set the hard drive back in the old computer to see how it works. I'll perhaps RMA it to WD though. Thanks for all you guys assist. I'm so pleased to contain a desktop and all of my data yet again.
