    Default Q9550 won't post on DP45SG

I've been operating a DP45SG (Intel) mobo with a Q8600 without troubles. I required employing the virtualization in Win 7 so obtained a Q9550. Exploded it no - no post. Swapped back - no probs. Repeat - similar result. Thinking the Q9550 was DOA but the shop verified it out and it was well. Intel chat support optional a possible PSU matter (vague). I'm using a Thermaltake 550W - any thoughts?

What are your other specifications?Or attend interweb.in to calculate your minimum PSU necessities, just put your specifications in.I would speak at least a 650 watt PSU.

It arises as requiring about 490 W. So the 550 should not be a difficulty. Along with Intel the voltage range is quite broad so that shouldn't be a difficulty either.

    Other specifications:

    2 x 2g ddr3 1333 pc10666 ocz cl7-7-7-20 ( I did attempt eliminating one to observe if it would boot single channel - no luck )
    9800gt+ video card
    Thermaltake tr2 rx 550w
    Intel DP45SG mobo
    3 HDD - one is a 10,000 rpm unit
    2 x cd/dvd RW

all this workings fine with the old quad core chip. (E8300 - I put in 8600 wrongly in the original post). New in - nothing, old one back in - no troubles.

Providing you have the 0073 BIOS you should be fine to leave, have you tried doing a CMOS rearrange with the Q9550 in?

I haven't attempted the CMOS rearrange even. Since I place the old CPU back in - which workings well, just no virtualization support - couldn't I just go into the bios and reinstate default settings? I don't believe I've done much to modify them in any case. I haven't OC’ed this system or done anything strange. Is the point that the bios will unplanned dissimilar default settings with the new CPU? If that's the case, I definitely observe the point.

It's a condition where I have to pull all apart and swap chips to try belongings and then put it all back among the old CPU if it doesn't work. So I'm annoying to obtain as many things to attempt as possible between meetings with the lid off. Those flimsy pins on the Intel coolers weren't made to continue and off too many times.

A CMOS rearrange is not for all time wanted but sometimes a need, it will usually involve powering down and unplugging from the mains and then touching a physical jumper on the motherboard before a 'soft' reset via BIOS. It may assist.

I'll offer it an attempt. Incidentally - Valentino is a myth. Even though I'm an Aussie and have to back Stoner, It's going to be an attractive contest next year if they're both over their game.

Yeah Casey and that Duke are a force to be considered with for certain and if he hadn't taken three months off for medical causes the championship may well contain gone his way, next season is going to be a humdinger for sure and I for one can't anticipate the start even though there's one round absent of this one to end.

Thanks to all for the recommendation so far, but unluckily the difficulty persists. I controlled chips and detached the battery for about 1/2 hour. Unplugged the hdds and optical drives but missing the video card in so that I could watch if it ongoing to post (no video on the board). Similar result identical. Fans turn but no post - no indication to the monitor. Drop the old chip back in and all is cute. The CMOS was reset because the clock was back to evasion. So, I'm confused - any other thoughts?

Eliminating the battery will rearrange the clock but it will have no result on the BIOS. Your mobo does not emerge to have a CMOS reset jumper but it does contain a BIOS jumper, have you used that?
