Thread: Will an AM3 CPU work with my AM2+/AM2 Mobo?

So the query is clear, I'm thinking of improvement the CPU and I would like to recognize if I could drop in something like the Athlon II X4 620, without any troubles. Such as a noticeable presentation loss, or if there will be bottlenecks, etc.

I use my computer for workplace level stuff so it does need to be able to grip the info, so any noticeable presentation loss would not be good, I would rather purchase a genuine AM3 board if I have too.

There are no PhenomII/AthlonII CPU’s on that motherboard's CPU hold up list. So except Asus is just slow informing their information, I don’t think it’s going to labor.

Yes, it will job but it may require a bios inform. No, DDR3 doesn't advance presentation really.

AM2+ is a middle standard for underneath both AM2 and AM3 processors. Like the last guy said, you'll probably need a BIOS update.

Does anyone have a connection for the BIOS download? Or will I have to obtain that...
One other thing is on sites similar to Newegg my board says its only AM2, but on Asus's website it says "Support AMD Socket AM2+/AM2 CPU" so does that mean it is AM2+?

Thanks for indicating that, many systems did not boot up just because they wanted to inform the bios to distinguish it.

Hang on! I departed your mobo link; they haven’t launched supporting bios still. Some guy did direct to acquire an am3 proc working, but only 2 memory slots were working. Type m2n32sli phenom ii difficulty in Google and see appears like you'll have to wait before a bios modernize (if at yet) comes out.

on this linkage its avowed asus support responded there'd be no inform , but another guy got ram running at less speed and one guy could still o'c his phenom2 x2 . Sounds puzzling. He was using bios 2101, so the best bet for you to is purchase the CPU first, set bios 2101 and then try. If it does not work purchase a new motherboard.
