Default Are these temps ok to OC?

I just mounted an IGSC 300 on my i7 920. The bios say the temperature is 32C (I imagine this is called tcase). Also, RealTemp says the core temperature is 47C. Are these temperatures ok for me to OC up to 3.4 GHz devoid of steadiness issues, or are they too hot? Should I re increase the cooler to maybe get lower temperatures? I say sorry if I didn't employ the correct technical terms for my temperatures.

Those appear fine sufficient for overclocking to me.

Unoccupied temperatures are comparatively insignificant. Run Prime95 little FFT's for 10 minutes to obtain some significant temperature reports.

Ok, I ran little FFT's for 10 minutes precisely on Prime95. My second core was equal to 98C at the 10 minute mark, with the other three some degrees cooler. I did not obtain any errors or caveats on the threads, which I deduction is positive. I suppose this is too high to OC?

i7 9xx Core temperatures should not surpass 73c. Your temperatures designate that one of the push-pins is not seated totally through the motherboard. Resolutely push on each leg individually while running Prime95 Small FFT's and observe your temperatures. You will locate one corner which flexes very somewhat and causes the temperatures to decrease quickly.

This is the leg which is causing poor thermal contact. Stop Prime 95, then withdraw and reset the pin. Push on the leg (not the pin) with one hand and hold it resolutely against the motherboard, then thrust the pin with the other hand pending it clicks. Run Prime95 Small FFT's over and you should see much lower Core temperatures.

Ok, so I'm quite sure I acquire what you’re saying. The CPU cooler is not on correctly, and one of the legs is not all the manner through the motherboard and the heatsink is not functioning to its best aptitude. So I should see which leg it is and attach it by testing them all while prime95 is running?

Ok, I sprints Prime95 and pressed on the pins and you were right. When I enthused the cooler a certain way the temps dropped by as a minimum 3C in the second core, which is hotter than the rest. I'm going to have to re accumulate the cooler. Thanks for the amazing assist. I never would have understood the difficulty on my own.
