With NTFS permissions, you can allocate particular permissions to consumers or groups. Special permissions offer more of a tailored sole level of permissions for your files and folders. Here are the NTFS special permissions.
Traverse Folder/Execute File
• For folders, allows the object to navigate through the folder organization below the folder where the permission is applied.
• For files, allows the object to perform an application program stored in the folder.
List Folder/Read Data
• For folders, allows the object to see the names of files and subfolders amassed in the file where the permission is applied.
• For folders, allows the object to view the inside of files stored in the folder.
Read Attributes
• Allows the object to view the features of a file or folder.
Read Extended Attributes
• Allows the object to view the extended features of a file or folder.
• Extended features are usually defined by an application and vary from program to program.
Create Files/Write Data
• For folders, allows the object to create new files inside the folder.
• For files, allows the object to alter or replace the contents of an accessible file.
Create Folders/Append Data
• For folders, allows the object to make new subfolders within the folder.
• For files, allows the object to add data to the end of an obtainable file without otherwise changing the content of the file, counting deleting the file.
Write Attributes
• Allows the object to change the features on an existing file or subfolder inside the folder.
Write Extended Attributes
• Allows the object to alter the extended attributes on an accessible file or subfolder inside the folder.
• Extensive features are usually defined by an application and will differ from program to program.
Delete Subfolders and Files
• Allows the object to delete a file or subfolder, even if the Delete consent has not been granted to the object.
Delete
• Allows the object to delete a file or folder.
• An object can yet delete a file or folder devoid of this consent set if the object has been granted the Delete Subfolders and Files consent.
Read Permissions
• Allows the object to view the safety permissions set on files and subfolders within the folder.
Change Permissions
• Allows the object to change security permissions on files and subfolders inside the folder.
Take Ownership
• Allows the object to change the proprietor of a file or folder to the object’s consumer ownership.
Full Control
• Allows the object to do all Special Permissions.
