Many people create employ of number keypad over numbers on top row of keyboard. But like most people I am certain you can’t press num lock key always you start PC to turn numbers lock on. Sometime there is a BIOS setting that will permit you set PC to have numbers lock on when you start PC. Sadly this does not forever work.
Here is a registry edit for Windows 2000 and XP that will force numbers lock to be on when you begin Windows. Previous to you do this guarantee to endorsement registry by going to File and then Export in regedit.

Go to Start, Run, typing in regedit and press Ok it will open registry editor. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard key. Double click InitialKeyboardIndicators value on correct to open it. If not then comprise it by heading for Edit, New and then String Value and type InitialKeyboardIndicators for name of new worth as shown.

You can then adapt number under Value data to do some of the following:
0 = All indicators off
1 = Caps Lock on
2 = Num Lock on
4 = Scroll Lock on
Only place number and not the text after the number.
