Default Will a Q9550 work with an Asus P5w DH Deluxe motherboard?

Hi, I was planning to obtain a Q9550 as an promote to my E6600 and I was worried that the Quad might not work with my motherboard, since I convert on some sites that it might not work, is that factual?

Or may I employ the Q9550 with my present motherboard?

Thanks for the information, just went flings Asus's forum, appears people have matter with it, and Asus essentially lies about support for it with the bios modernize, I was hoping to acquire the Q9550, as my last cpu before building a novel system with the i7 in about 1.5 yeas from now. The q6600 doesn’t require be much of an improve for the money ...similar clock, only 2 more cores.

yeah ....perhaps if you could live with the E6600 for 1.5 yrs then its excellent....but I sense that the if the q6600 can overclock so well maybe you could attempt your fortune wit your E6600...overclock it (if u motherboard permits which I doubt cause of the chipset..)But yet offer it an attempt. so may a 3GHz E6600 could stand ability for those 1.5yrs.

Very good arrangement. I've had X1900, E6600 & 2GB DDR2-PC6400 FOR 2.5 YEARS. All ways running at 3GHz, it's still a fast machine. A month ago I upgraded to a X4870, Q9550 & 4GB DDR2-PC8400. With the latest bios, she pairs along at 3.2 GHz. Just like you, I'll promote in 1.5 years. That’s one hell of a good life span for a P5W DH Deluxe, and it will yet be a relevantly fast machine then.

    I provide it fast hard drives also, 74GB 10,000 rpm, 2 x 320 GB Raid 0, 320 GB, 1TB, 500GB internal endorsement, 500GB external encouragement.

I employed to possess that motherboard. Solid presentation and attributes, but I sold it because of it sticking on the BIOS load screen for about 40 seconds. It was further than frustrating.

I acquired my new Q9550 processor today and it works fine with the motherboard. Asus p5w DH deluxe. I have all the newest BIOS and other ASUS connected motherboard downloads mounted prior to... installing the novel chip. WinXP firstly ran a very fast check disk on the 1st establish with the Q9550, but after that no troubles.

The Q9550 has a multiplier of 8.5. Along with Asus (and my P5W DH Deluxe), they don't support .5 multipliers. What multiplier are you employing?

I also destined to say in my post above that I was operating winXP 32bit and a BIOS v.2801.The v2801 BIOS would not begin my computer with windows 7 7600.xxxxx etc... 64bit.

It just reserved rebooting and would not convey the windows program up, so I distorted drives on establish to winXp, then downloaded and mounted ASUS BIOS v2901, which can handle both 32bit & 64bit O/S's then after I mounted v2901 I distorted my drives back to my win7 64bit and it started right up & operates fine.

You can perceive the multiplier in the BIOS and in CPU-Z. I'm encouraging your Q9550 isn't operating at full speed. You'll akin to the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P.
