Default Amd phenom II 965 BE vs Q9400

    This is my specifications

    Graphics Card-hd 4890
RAM-4 GB ddr 3 ram Platinium PY
    PSU-.600 OCZ Stealhtream
    MOTHER-ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO - Socket AM3 - Chipset 785G - ATX
Cooler- Artic Freezer Rev 7 Pro

I’m deciding between the two above.

I desire to oc them to the max with my configuration, allowing for I do so what is the best since q9400 has more L2 cache , less TDP and more overcloking potential (as I saw in some appraisals).

If you already possess that Socket AM3 motherboard, than the Phenom II is the only processor you scheduled that can be employed on it.

i5, Q9400, PII don't develop the similar type of mobo.
    i5 ---LGA 1156 socket
    Q9400 ---LGA 775 socket
    Phenom II---AM3 socket

f you've bought an AM3 mobo, PhenomII is your only option.

An AMD admirer that believes he can run a C2Q on a 785G.Even if you could sprint a Q9400, the 965 is faster. I'd recommend the 955 though, it’s cheaper and overclocks just as rapid as the 965.

    I’m arranging the mobo
I can yet cancel the order and get another mobo (for the processors above stated)
I overlooked to mention that , sorry,
giving that what do you believe is enhanced?

    ASUS P5Q SE2 - Socket 775 - Chipset P45 - ATX - 67 euros
    MOTHER-ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO - Socket AM3 - Chipset 785G - ATX (ddr 2 memory , I can’t find a ddr 3 memory for 80 as I can with a am3 mother).

you should seem for the phenom over the quads.... they out carry out the quads for like prices... but if you look at the core i5 then the picture modify... core i5 beats the best phenom... so it all boils down to how much cash you are willing to use for the processor... and the mobo surely.

At STOCK they are approximately the same.I’ve seen benchmarks the i5 is quicker doing something the 965 BE is faster doing others. But the i5 overclocks a LOT and has turbo boost and hyperthreading ps: yet if I attend OC do you keep your view that I should go for the phenoms´, Intel’s quad core cpu´s overclock like wild with low tdp´s.

The Core i5 can’t utilize Tri channel memory, Only Dual channel and it has to be DDR3. If I was the OP I would just buy the new edition of the AMD Phenom 965 and with the money saved acquire a decent Cooler and overclock it.

I say obtain a new mobo and obtain the core i5 , at stock speeds it just as good as the 965 if not enhanced and the 965 is at 3.4ghz where the core i5 is at 2.66 and it is faintly better than in presentation wise and around the similar performance in games. if you have turbo boost on it is at akin to 2.8ghz, which it will definitely surpass the 965 and that’s not even including a Overclock just a small one to like 3.0-3.2 which if u did it would entirely crap all over the 965.

Not to state it will require you to obtain a lga1156, and int he future if you choose to upgrade you can throw in a core i7 860 or 870 or we cpu has appear in that item that supports your mobo; P the 965 form amd is its flagship processor atm and it is only on par with the core i5, its sad to believe a amd processor at 3.4ghz is the speed of a Intel cpu a 2.6 Intel is certainly capping all over amd now.
