    Default My Core i7 920 organizing at 84 C idle - difficulty?

I'm constructing my own computer and I'm in the BIOS menu immediately setting everything up and I perceive that my CPU temperature is sitting at 84 C. That sounds strangely high to me, but I didn't recognize if that was emblematic of this CPU and I just have to purchase an aftermarket cooler, or if that's investigative of a difficulty.

If anyone can aid me out I would truly value it. It's been a demanding week trying to build this PC.

First of all I like to provide suggestion, Please shut down your computer immediately! There is a difficulty with the thermal compound or the situation of the hsf. A CPU must not be going to 70C under weight.

Clear the CPU and HSF off all the thermal compound and then place new amount of thermal compound similar to arctic silver 5 reseat the HSF and observe if the decreases temps.

I'm presently in the process of annoying to eliminate the heatsink (it's obstinately locked into position), but just to obtain an idea of whether or not belongings are in turn up to this point, what kind of idle temperature should I be seeing usually?

Hey friend, if you wish your CPU to exist, I’d shut it off and employ another computer awaiting its fixed. For me, if my CPU goes more than 50C on load, I begin to fret, if it goes more than 60C (On full load) than I obtain scared. IMO 84 is mode to high for idle, either your cooler isn't correctly attack or you didn't apply your thermal paste correctly.

Fine for me, I like to follow Intel and amd on there CPU temperature suggestions, which are for all time around 70C for most CPU’s. Although in fact, the cpus yet be operating around 100c but this will shorten the CPU life time by plenty.

Confirm the heatsink is really linked to the CPU fan power connector on the motherboard. If the fan isn't receiving power, it's not going to cool splendidly.

If that fan is operating and you're yet considering 84C at idle then you have something gravely incorrect with the heatsink mount.

The CPU appears with thermal paste pre-related to the base of the heatsink and I am recently lifted it out and observed that the paste had rubbed off onto the CPU. I can also perceive that the fan is certainly rotating. I pursued the installation directions as closely as probable. From what I can tell, I did everything precisely along with Intel's certification.

I can't believe how I could have failed such a moderately undemanding procedure. Do you believe an option thermal paste will actually solve the difficulty? Is it at all probable that I simply have bad unit?

Yet the stock thermal pad won’t provide you such awful idle temperatures. If you're using the stock Intel heatsink, confirm the 4 push pins are completely seated. They should really pop through the motherboard and physically "click" into place on the back side. If it isn't seated totally, with all 4 pins completely pushed through and grabbing the back side, it won't contact the CPU well and therefore it won't construct good thermal contact.

Yes I recognize I am rather overstressing with disturbing about temps but I actually feel more relaxed when my hardware is operating cooler.
