Once you've bought a cable modem for your home you'll require configuring your Macintosh computer's Network settings. By configuring your computer's settings you are giving the computer with the perfect information necessary to connect wirelessly to your cable modem's connection. Otherwise you can also connect your cable modem to the AirPort Express router by Apple which abridges the system process.

Attach Wirelessly
Step 1
Click the "Apple" icon and choose "System Preferences" from the drop-down menu.
Step 2
Click the "Network" icon below the "Internet & Wireless" part.
Step 3
Click "Built-in Ethernet" and click the "TCP/IP" tab. Click the drop-down menu beside "Configure IPv4" and decide "Using DHCP" or "Manually." For manual system enter your IPv4 address subnet mask and router information followed by clicking "OK."
Step 4
Click the "Apply" button to save the settings and return to the major Network window.
