8*C lower than stock cooler should be superior sufficient for the Buffalo. 55*C at full load is not bad. Is this at the maximum rpm already? If you want it cooler you can place Smart fan to Manual and place lower target temperature. The CPU will be cooler but it the fan rotating at top speed will be noisier.

With a cooler akin to the Buffalo, I wouldn't anticipate much from it but receiving a temperature drop of 44 on idle compared to the 50 (with what u had previously is a HUGE difference). You just made your processor live a few more years. Getting temps lower than that would denote investing in a more luxurious cooler the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ is a popular and GOOD cooler, I was suggested that a few days ago.

But thus good temperatures as far as I’m worried. To lower your temps a bit more I’d need a little more details on your casing since I can’t discover the specifications page yet after googlin it but I deduction its mATX form factor correct?

First of all thanks for your reply. Almost, excavate is an m7530n. I'm glad to hear that those temps are fine, but I seem to overclock. Do you believe I’ll yet can with buffalo cooler?

A mild overclock perhaps likely but your PCU is operating hot anyway perceive if you can spend in another aftermarket cooler. Similar to the Cooler master Hyper 212+ it’s great with temperatures and it costs around $30. Get that and you'll have overclocking headroom.

Mild overclocking. what do you mean? Like +200 MHz? And what are fine program to overclock? My BIOS is locked. I've tried Clockgen, but it overclocks FSB also. I just require core. I've attempted to overclock my FSB and my computer hangs then I place from 2800 MHz to 2830 mhz. (and 1% fsb).

A mild overclock is anywhere from attaining a 10~40% augment in stock CPU clocks, extreme overclocking is attaining 50~70% of the affirmed clock speed or more.

You can also Google on directed for overclocking a Pentium D.

Use SetFSB that is good software for those who'd desire to overclock but cant due to the stock aspects of a proprietary board.

All of them are a good read before you overclock, remember you can damage your hardware if you’re not wary besides your mobo doesn't have a ClearCMOS button so if you can’t POST memorize to pull the battery out and wait a moment until you reboot.

Of course you can purchase a cheap LGA 775 overclocking mobo now that the i3's are starting to show up.
If you’re involved, look into Asus Maximus II Gene.
