Default What motherboard for RAID 5?

I want to make a little machine that will serve me:

    - Server Storage
    - Watching movies on my TV (1080p via HDMI)

I thought to buy 3 discs and 1.5 TB RAID5 set for Security (3TB therefore available).

So I thought buying a processor Economic, quiet, heated, and a motherboard with HDMI support and hardware raid5.

The pc will be on 24/24 and I think it add a small UPS. Any Advice?

    Hello,
not to make as much avoid the raid5 raid chipsets that will have you n shit ...
just as much of a raid or so investing in a raid.

In fact, I wanted a motherboard that can make implicit disks in addition to raid5.

I explained that it was for domestic use and therefore not critical.

Precisely, the expense to make the raid 5 is justified only when we want continuity of service (in addition to its external backup), during an outage HD -> company, server, etc. An individual will most benefit from using simple volumes and external backup since he can afford to cut one hour to change a disc and put the backup.

I would not be so categorical on the subject. madpo I have some machines running in RAID5 for several years (one year for a machine, and 4 years for second), and no problem has occurred yet. (I feel that I'm not going to make some friends, with such remarks)

Still, it should not take RAID5 for a reliable backup. The only way to ensure the data is still to grow on various media or disk.

RAID 5 for motherboard is not a necessity you can opt for only if you don’t have much time as it will only save you time.
