Default Origin: When EA Framed Steam

While Steam is embarking on thedistribution of games "Free To Play", announcing at thesame time now manage micro-transactions, Electronic Arts is seriouslyaddressing the sale of games with its paperless platform Origin, presented a few hours before n 'open the doors of E3.EA matters nomore, no less, become a leader in this market and could sure use atool house to get there.

The publisher has also ideas such asoffering its download store Origin (which already has 150 games)exclusive titles and content available only to players who boughtsome games from the platform. And to encourage players to come eat onthe Origin, rather than in competition, like Steam or Direct2Drive,for example.

Among those games that will beaccessible only via Origin, it will take the first MMORPG fromBioWare, Star Wars: The Old Republic, a game which is said to be themost expensive ever funded by EA.As extremely important for apublisher, which has therefore take a huge risk by selling only itsown, on its online platform.Of course, if the MMO is a success, thiswill enable EA to install Origin in the minds of players and theircomputers.
