The story of Prey has its roots in themythology of Native America, uniting the stories of alien abduction:the game tells the story of the young Cherokee Tommy, a boy whosedream is to escape with his love of Jan from the reserve in whichthey live, trying to deny their heritage. Perhaps there would also besuccessful, if a cataclysmic event had not intervened to change hislife forever: the invasion of Earth by aliens who abduct Jen, Tommyand his grandfather to take them inside of a giant spaceshiptechnology able to overturn the laws of physics.
From that moment on, our first taskwill play as Tommy, using a first person view, in search of hisbeloved. I deliberately wrote "first task" because thegame's storyline will evolve beyond what appears a simple rescuemission, with great twists and turns that I did not anticipate.Suffice it to say that at the beginning of the game Tommy manages tobreak free from the clutches of the aliens, allowing them to roamfreely around the ship.
One thing that I can anticipate(because if you have tried the demo of the game you've seen him inperson), is that Tommy soon witness the death of his elderlygrandfather, after which it will appear in the form to explain theethereal ' use of Cherokee ancestral powers: from that moment onwardswe will be able to use our "astral form" to separate fromthe body of Tommy and pass otherwise impassable obstacles, such asforce fields and chasms. Portals, and passages gravitational gunsaliens speak of astral powers of Tommy gives us an opportunity tointroduce the most interesting feature of Prey : the variousmechanisms introduced by the designers to differentiate the gameplayfrom the classic FPS "shoot and run." The alien ship hastwo main technologies, one of the portals and gravitational fields.
