In terms of aesthetics and electrical design, you can say that it is an example of a basic design executed in a perfect manner. They have used a dual-mono topology with two separate 330V A toroidal power transformers. Dual mono topology means two mono amplifier circuits are fitted inside one cabinet, with separate power transformers for each amplifier. A major advantage of this being that you get a clean signal at the input stage. And for the output stage, there are two pairs of MOSFET per channel, which delivers 120 watts into 8 ohms and 200 watts into 4 ohms.

In terms of current loading capacity with 62,000pF as total magnitude of capacitors, there is enough current and power to satisfy most of the speakers that can be partnered with the IN200. It has five single-ended inputs - one tape loop, a home-theatre bypass (to access the power section directly without passing through the volume control) and two pre¬outs provide for a wide range of connection choices. But considering its price of approximately a lakh, we would have appreciated a balanced input. With balanced connections you have the advantage of using the balanced out from your hi-end CD player which helps you keep the signal free from EMI interference or ground loops. On the same lines, there is also a lack of tone controls but it does provide a balance control. We can think of two reasons for Atoll not putting in a tone control.
