Going snorkelling soon? Sanyo's new HD camcorder wants to come too. It certainly looks the part, but when put under pressure, will it sink or swim? It certainly looks the part, but when put under pressure, will it sink or swim?

This is the Lotus Esprit of the camcorder world. Just like 007's amphibiou's motor, it's not afraid of a dip. This nop HD submariner can dive to 3m, recording up to 32GB of underwater adventuring onto a SD card. However, a torpedo function is sadly lacking.

You're pretty scary: just ask the sea creatures you terrorised when filrT;ling your last amateur nature documentary. But thanks to the Xacti's impressive 30x optical zoom, you can play Attenborough from a safe distance, snooping on that pygmy"seahorse at up to 60fps without scaring him away.

This wild child would have been the perfect partner for a surfing video, had it not been for the puzzling omission of an AV input for a head-cam. Unless you fancy hanging onto your Xacti while you hang ten, that perfect pipe must remain the stuff of anecdote.
