Talk of Windows mobile, and you instantly start thinking of PDAs and smartphones from 02, HP, or HTC. This one is something different; a Windows smartphone slider with a QWERTY keyboard that tries to throw in non-smartphone features into the mix. The QWERTY is hidden, thanks to the slider, and on top, there are some touch-sensitive buttons. Even the Dpad has a jog dial built into it. It can therefore be used to scroll slowly (using up and down buttons) or very quickly with a quick twist of the jog dial. It's quite sensitive though, so you do end of over scrolling most of the time. The QWERTY keyboard though is quite good, evenly backlit and with good tactile feedback.

The dual speakers are loud enough, but their placement at the back of the phone hinders their audibility, as the flat back suppresses the sound when the phone is kept on a table or a flat surface. The Interface, built around the latest Windows Mobile 6 smartphone platform is blazing fast. For multimedia, you have Windows Media player that works flawlessly with all the usual formats and sounds good with the earphones. The phone has a slide out 2 MP camera with LED flash. Pictures taken outdoors are good but those taken indoors were a little grainy.

Compared to some of the other 2 MP Windows phones like The 02 Atom, the photos were a little better and the videos a lot better. To store all your videos, pictures, and music files, the phone has 80 MB onboard memory and a microSD expansion slot.
Weighing just 126 g with battery, the phone is quite light. The bright, sharp 2.2-inch 320x240 pixel screen offers easy readability in all conditions. The phone also has Bluetooth, 3G, and EDGE capabilities, but skips on the Wi-Fi. I felt that some settings (like Bluetooth) should have been a little more accessible.

There is a nice Samsung customization in the form of a bar on the home screen-kind of like a quick launch bar, It stores opened programs like Windows media player, which can be re¬accessed without going to the menu. Overall, it's great if you need a non-touchscreen smartphone with QWERTY.
