When the Corby first landed on my desk, the first question which popped into my head was What's the price? The answer delighted me, because this phone belongs to the set of the most affordable touchscreen phones available in the market the phone offers a gamut of features which is sure to delight the 'socially inclined'.
The Corby is available in four bright colors and is small enough to fit perfectly within your palm. This means that you can hold the phone and use the capacitive touchscreen with the same hand. The touch screen is very responsive and the interface is quite similar to the Samsung Jet and Ultra Touch phones, with a lot of focus on the widgets. Samsung calls it the TouchWiz interface; essentially there are three home screens which provide ample space to spread out the widgets.
The feature that is sure to attract the youth is the integration of multiple social networking sites which allow access from their dedicated widgets. Social networking sites like YouTube, Orkut, Facebook, MySpace and Twitter are all pre-loaded on the handset.
In terms of connectivity, there is the trusty old GPRS and Bluetooth, however Wi-Fi seems to have been skipped. The FM and music capabilities make it a good multimedia companion as well. Another interesting feature is that you can directly access features like messaging, music and some other applications by unlocking the phone in a special way. All you need to do is assign an alphabet to a particular application, draw that on the screen to unlock the screen and go to the application directly. The camera is a decent 2MP one, with smile detection. Images are passable in adequate light.
