Delivered in a compact black boxed package, the S500i is currently available in two shades, Mysterious Green and Spring Yellow and comes with pa a one-year warranty. The one reviewed here is in the shade of green, as the box says, but essentially it looks black to me except for the keypad. It has a pretty compact body with a good grip. The front with its 2-inch TFT display is finished in a glossy sheen ce clad in black lacquered plastic, while the rear utilizes su a soft touch finish that assists in gripping the phone. If one considers the visual appeal, the handset is quite remarkable and looks pretty quaint, especially the rear view

The body is curvaceous overall. The handset comes equipped with about 18MB of internal memory and up to 1000 contacts with fully filled in fields can be stored in the phonebook. The memory can be expanded with an external memory of up to 2GB. The most impressive feature is probably the crisp high¬resolution display. The metamorphosing wall paper, with the flowers either blossom out in the sun or droop in the night time, appealing to the Iretty personal quotients. The phone's side-plates retain LEDs that can generate various combinations of light effects and differ both in terms of colour and rhythm. Though you can't pick or setup these effects, you can enjoy only those that come pre¬installed with the handset. Below the screen are aligned the navigation tabs. Regular menus surround the circular navigation pad. To accommodate the curvy features, the fast port slot has been moved to the right side panel.

The top folith panel provides the M2 slot alongside a small sunken power button, while the base houses a microphone and lanyard holder. The volume and zoom button are accommodated on the right. The slider is smooth and self assisted. The central navigation disc is concentrically zes surrounded with a raised feature to provide an easy ne. grip for sliding the display screen. But the user invariably touches the display screen to use the slider. This can cause annoying finger marks on your otherwise smooth display. The plastic keypad is designed in green and looks as if it forms a grid of some circuit, in stark contrast to the front glossy black. All buttons are lit in white, which makes them easily visible in various. The phone is priced at Rs.8,250 which we feel is reasonable for such a good looking phone.
