Despite being a slider, the W70S is bath slim and sturdy at the same time. The solid rectangular farm factor and rubberised back panel give it a good, robust feel. The sliding mechanism is fairly smooth, albeit a little sluggish. The screen, measuring 2.L,in is no match for many phones, but on this petite body it looks nice and spacious. Overall the phone is well-built, and looks elegant. But the available colours might be a little too elegant for many; The W70S comes in two colour variants - a black and pink combination, and a plain silver brushed aluminium with a dull gold trim.
The sound quality, as expected, is excellent and to help things greatly, Sony throws in a pair of premium buds and a L,GB card to sweeten the deal. The player adopts the easy-to-use Walkmnn interface with minor tweaks and is loaded with features like SenseMe. On the flipside, Sony did not rethink the 3.Smm socket strategy, thus we have to do with a flimsy jack instead.
This little fella is full of little featury goodies. The motion sensor is great for flipping through pictures and playing games. The Shake control, although gimmicky, is good for a hands-free approach to music. Other applications like WalkMate and FM radio nicely
round off the feature list.
