The C905 is one of the latest rash of mobile phones to incorporate an 8-megapixel camera. It has competition from LG in the Renoir and Samsung in both the Pixon and the i8510.

Leaving the camera aside for the moment and looking at the other aspects of this handset, the ergonomics don't exactly set our world alight. The slider format often lends itself to neat and small design, but not here. The phone is heavy at 136g and chunky at 18mm thick, 49mm wide and 104mm tall with the slide closed, 135mm tall with it opened.

A key problem with all this is that the front screen is relatively small. We are getting used to large touchscreens and so the 2.4-inch, 240 x 320-pixel offering here, which is not touch sensitive, seems a bit lost in its surroundings and somehow inadequate.
The negative feeling isn't helped by the under-screen button arrangement which looks rather uglier than we are used to seeing from Sony Ericsson. Still, the six front buttons and D-pad do give access to a lot of what the phone has to offer, and all are easy to use. Further positives come with the number pad under the slide, whose keys are large and easy to hit accurately.
