Default "Inactive SIM" being displayed on my cell phone sometimes.?

I have recently purchased a new Sony Ericsson P1i and I have a Vodafone connection with it. Sometimes what happens is, I get the message "Inactive SIM" where the operator logo is written (Vodafone etc). After that I am not able to send and recieve calls. However restarting the phone temporarily fix's the problem but only for some time. Has anybody experienced any thing like this before? Can it be the related to the SIM or my handset??

I used to have the same problem but with my sony ericsson w600i. Eventually i found out that it could be either three problems. 1. The sim card is malfunctioning so you will have to cantact your mobile provider so they can send you a new sim card 2. Your connection with your mobile provider and phone will have to be updated by calling your provider and have them reinstate your sim card compatibility with your phone3. The connection from your phone simcard slot to the sim card is not properly recieving info from the card so you will have to repair or buy a new phone.

ok before you start changing settings on your phone .. try this if you can. Put the sim card into a different phone if it still does the same inactive sim issue then its a sim card and call customer care to see about replacing they should do it for free.if you put it in a different phone and it doesnt do it .. then it could be a phone issue .. call customer care to see about warranty issues!

There could be a variety of problems, I would probably call your cell provider, it is their responsibility to ensure your phone is working properly and in all probability it will be under warranty anyway.
