The TZ series is currently the flagship for Sony's notebook lineup. Its weight of 1.2 kg is the lightest we have seen in this comparison (the Asus UIF is also 1.2 kg). With a Core 2 Duo U7600, it is built for battery life, rather than performance. It lasted over 5 hours (306 minutes) of running MobileMark 2005, an impressive figure for a laptop this small and light.
Speaking of performance, it is not expected to be used for CPU heavy tasks - it will work well though for general business use. In WorldBench 6.0, this Vaio managed a score of 46. The 11.1 inch display is bright, but has a noticeable pinkish tinge. Despite the small form factor, the keys are spaced well. Their small size cannot be helped due to the limited space available. Touchpad feel and response is good too.
We received the Onyx Black color version that looked classy enough to be carried anywhere. The compactness, style and battery backup do not come cheap however. At Rs. 1,14,900, it is clearly meant for a niche segment that is willing to pay this price and not be affected by its low performance.
