Thread: ASUS N73SV Optimus and Technology

I recently bought a ASUS N73SV-V1G-TZ408V enjoying a flash sale at Rue du Commerce.
I am generally happy even though I was expecting something more "fast" (slow start really painful) and I have trouble with the keyboard "soft".

But then I wonder about the technology OPTIMUS which is supposed to manage the two graphics cards:
in the documentation it is stated that the Optimus LED should change color when the laptop switches from one card to another, except mine is always off the LED, whatever I do.

is what my phone is stuck on the Intel chip on the HD or Nvidia GT540? Rocking on?

There is no tipping default BIOS uses the GC.

I think this should happen with a video chipset on motherboard.

No, OPTIMUS technology is supposed to do to switch between the Intel HD when we do not need heavy graphics power and graphics card Nvidia GT540 when 3D power is sought, why there yardstick LED on the laptop that is supposed to light up to indicate the mode in which it is on mine this LED never illuminates.

Right click on the desktop -> Nvidia Control Panel -> left 3D setting -> manage 3D settings. You have the "preferred GPU" and you selected processor or GT5XX.

Maybe the LED is just toasted. If you throw a little hungry games and that fluid is that it uses dedicated CG.

The LED is not grilled, it's just not connected. In the instructions it says "(depending on model). Your model does not have it.

To see if Optimus work you must check a box in the drivers Nvidia display next to the clock if your laptop uses intel graphics card or HD.
