Thread: Western Digital takes over the production of hard drives

Good news on the front of hard drivesthat are currently experiencing a shortage. Western Digital announcedthat it could boost production in Thailand. World leader in the harddrives, Western Digital has as its competitors were hit hard byfloods in Thailand, which as you know probably led to a shortage ofthese components on the market, a situation that could last up theend of 2012 for some.


The fact is that John Coyne, CEO ofWestern Digital, announced that after much effort he was able toresume its operations in Thailand, ahead of schedule it set.


The brand was able to restartproduction of its hard drives in a factory in Bang Pa-in (BPI), whichwas flooded by nearly two feet of water since October 15 but anotherproduction unit on the same site will resume in March 2012 enabled asit makes the heads read and write disks (sliders). As a result,Western Digital is forced to buy from the competition.


Navanakorn its other plants continue tobe flooded in March 2012, the manufacturer will begin production ofsliders in its new plant in Penang, Malaysia.
