Default IDE HDD not accepted on SATA Computer

I'm increasing one of my old IDE Drivesto my SATA Win7 box using an adapter.
<div> after booting, the drive is distinguished as drive Q, but is inaccessible. "Access Denied".</div>
<div>Instructions on the websaid to "auto detect" in setup, but there isn't any suchanimal that I can find. </div> <div> as it wasdistinguished, what are some other stairs, if any, I should take? Thedrive is a Seagate Barracuda 720. By The Way, I tried it with threedifferent drives with the same results.</div> <div>Someone referred "taking ownership", but, hey, I own allof'em <smile>.
It wouldn't grant me to alterownershil - "Access Denied".</div>
<div>Ifound an old SATA, hooked it up, and it worked fine just by pluggingit in. </div>
<div> Thanks for any help. </div>

You said I'd Have to "take ownership" first. R u saying that from your own knowledge or from the fact that I said sum1 told me to do it?

And as you can see by my original post, I reported that I was UNABLE to do it, because I acquired the same "access denied" error as I acquired when I attempted to access the drive. There must be more to the "access denied" error than we are considering, no? What else in any case ownership would cause that?
Secondly, using the link you gave and looking at setting PERMISSIONS in Win7, it stated:
"3. Click on Edit button in Properties windows Click ok to confirm UAC elevation request".
There is no "Edit" button in Properties. Something is weird. Is my installation of Win7 screwed up or are the instructions on that page wrong?

I have never has as a lingering trouble after too much searching and having a number of common people offer advice and/or estimates. The unit is an ACER. I called those idiots the other day and they denied to answer whether it was also possible to keep an IDE drive in my machine. As well bad, or may be darn good, we can't acquire our hands on the pharynx of some of the CS reps, isn't it (smile).
After this, can anyone suggest anything that I can do to determine what the problem is?

No, I haven't attempted the safe mode so far. I'm however thinking if I can't access the drive, it has to be something other as compared to taking ownership and some sharing settings. Still, I'm novel to Win7 and I've never heard of taking ownership earlier. I'll attempt booting in save mode and see what happens.

    Thanks,

I fear that unless you settle the ownership issue you'll have to make an end run at it. Boot up a LIVE CD called UBUNTU and do not install it. Only go with it LIVE and you should be able to copy out what you need. Later, back in 7 you can remove the old partition, create a new partition and format the drive.

Sum1 said that the Q:\ drive is NOT the drive I'm attempting to install; that it's a phantom drive that has sumthing to do with MS Office. Read something as that on the MS site good. At this point I'm more confused that when I started <smile>.
Your hint about UBUNTU, which is apprehended, whether or not it will work, isn't the solution. I already have the files on an External Drive. I only want to be able to install an IDE in my computer and I'm not getting also getting close.
So far, it seems that everyone is guessing and grasping at straws on this thing.

Did you guide to Disk management and watch the drive there? If not possible, then we'll have to conceive about acquiring some IDE to SATA adapter if IDE is disabled in the machine.

There's more to setting up IDE as compared to most people are altered for. As you acquired a novel drive letter (you would have seen Q before?) I thought you were past that step. For at present, let's guide to disk management and watch if you encounter the drive there.

If not it is possible there is not supported and disabled IDE port in the machine. Not the first time you've watched that I hope.

It wasn't demonstrated in Disk Management. There isn't any IDE controller in my machine, which is an ACER M3970 Aspire, 6G Memory, 6 SATA Ports, 3.1 GHZ.

The adapter I acquired easily plugs into the IDE HDD and has sockets for SATA cable which runs to one of the SATA ports. Power is the same like was used with the IDE. Something was said about formatting the drive. You may not format a drive as well as you can't access.

I'm desiring sum1 from the MicroShaft forum will experience something about it. It may be that the computer doesn't still SEE the drive, as it might be that Q:\ has nothing to do with the drive.

The adapter is not functional. I took your word " the drive is distinguished like drive Q," and then all this, we see you require to accquire a working adapter. Sum of these adapters have me attempting all 3 jumper selections on the HDD.

And I see this machine can have that IDE EMULATION mode therefore that means that just for ports may be active. This is deep material where past times and present PC knowledge is needed. Because you wrote the drive is distinguished like drive Q, I skipped any discussion about acquiring adapters and more.
