Default Dell studio boot for around 3 seconds and then turns off

I have a Studio 1737 which has a broken rear case because the flexible joint are locked up. The wireless switch wires on the left are nowadays broken. It was running fine last week and now.

I plug in the power adapter and it begins to power up for about 3 seconds. The power switch appears to be locked in the on position. The Dell logo looks for an moment and then it turns off. I don't think the fan even begins. I have reseated memory, removed the hard drive. Same results. The only think I can watch bad is the keyboard connector on the MB has a broken retainer, but I think I have pushed the cable in far enough and placed the broken clip in position and taped it. If it wasn't making a good connection, it should still power up with a keyboard error, Right???
I would appreciate any and all help...

Have you attempted removing the BIOS battery for 2 minutes and then re-seating it? If that gives an advance you may expect to view substituting the battery. It'll be a CR2032 for reference.

In theory it should afford a keyboard error but it's not ever guaranteed. I'm afraid I can't afford a lot of information with that as it's only a tid -bit of info that I have picked up.

I experience this is actually old, but I have detected the solution. You are may be on to better things, but may be someone in the future will require this. Anyhow, a friend of mine asked me to download virus protection on her laptop which is a Dell Studio 1737. I turned it on when I acquired home and it arrived on fine. I attempted to acquire online unsuccessfully, which is a different issue to settle, then I set about attempting to fix the cosmetic matters with the computer.

It would not close because the hinge on the left-hand slope loosened and eventually broke off from the lid. the resulting friction cause one of the wires to fray. I did not recognize this and attempted to settle the hinges thus that it would close. I acquired it to close and open, with a little struggle, and I started to seal it rear together.

Still, my heart dropped when I forced the power button and nothing happened, exclude the LED lights flashed at the top of the keyboard. I panicked, thinking I had fried the mother board, but after taking aside the laptop I discovered the frayed wire which happened to be the wire linking the power button to the laptop.

The hinge had frayed it, and it was at that point hanging on by a thread, supporting only plenty spark to light up the keyboard and begin the hard drive. I will consist a picture as an attachment. I am going to watch if I can splice this rear together. If not I will appear for a substitution on ebay. I will examine in to let you or anyone else reading know how it goes.

Yes, but the power button and the WiFi button run via the same bundle of wires. If split open there should be a red a black and a gold. These 3 join and make one wire that links to the bottom of the laptop. In my situation, the WiFi wire was entirely torn and the power wire was barely hanging with.

I skinned rear the plastic on all 3 wires, spliced them rear together and added electrical tape. I am however working on it right now. I will allow you know if it works. If not, novel ones can be purchased on ebay for about twelve bucks.

Like it would turn out.... I suck at putting wires rear together. I ordered a novel power or WiFi button thingy and it should be here in a couple of days. Thus, I hope this works.
