There is a lesson here. I however watch people picking up a laptop by the display or lid. These devices are not created for such consumers and they will pay the cost. As to glue, I have till to watch any authorized repair method.

I did not pick the Lenovo up by its display or anything of the form. The shoulder strap on the carrying case slipped off my wife's shoulder and caused the trouble.

My gripe is that Lenovo would not also sell substitution cases for the Y510 like they claimed it is a "Consumer Item" and therefore, no parts are available. I have the original on my bench in the shop and have streamed epoxy in the area where the flexible joint mounts are broken. If the unit does not operate when I eventually reassemble it, I will purchase a Cam-corder and create a video of the unit is being subjected to a blast of either 12 Gauge "00 Buckshot" or a Deer Slug!

Nice computer. Also bad it is a throw-away! I was actually irritated when the little Communists at Lenovo treated me like if I were attempting to acquire parts under warranty! I had read that the Communists in the Kremlin were paranoid, thus I guess it's a trait.

I have one, also, and on the same hinge trouble. Had the unit for going with three years and it acquired progressively worse. If you call Lenovo's backup number and your computer falls inside a serial number scope they held affected by the bad plan, they will fix it for free.

That comment about picking the notebook by the lid was seriously ignorant. There is a lesson to be learned about telling things out of left field, bud.

You are right about that, Bob. It is only in this case, for few time, Lenovo avoided this plan trouble and made a much more of anti-Lenovo fans, me have. We are always careful on our tech and this was a major disappointment. Including to relegate the thing to a desk, or also thinking of tossing it like many people referred, are bad-worse alternatives.

For the record, the Y510 has another trouble: the fan intake acquires clogged extremely rapidly and must be cleaned out or the system can overheat. The fan works at increasingly higher speeds, which is bothering in itself. The intake is easily badly planned. Generally, if stuff is treated right, it will supply many years of good service.

I detect that most laptop owners are unaware that cleaning the vents is a yearly task. But then we hear people calling that a plan flaw. Therefore far not one laptop I have watched has the vent acquires clogged flaw.

    Hi ,
I have an identical hinge trouble on my Y510. I attempted calling the customer backup but they rejected to fix the trouble since my laptop was not below warranty. I spoke to their supervisor also but that did not assist either. If its a plan flaw I am wanting it to acquire fixed. Can you please confirm whether your Y510 was below warranty and how long rear has it been fixed for you. The supervisor referred that they detected the trouble and it was fixed for every consumers then which I think is everything made up since that was the date my warranty expired. I will never purchase a Lenovo product again.

    Hi ,

My Y510 is extremely much out of warranty, but I did create various phone calls, anyhow. I, also, will never near a Lenovo product once more. They claim they fixed everything of the units that were impacted and had contact everybody who fell inside a series of serial numbers.

Seemingly, did not specify. That is utter nonsense. Our system remained with a desk most of the time and was never abused or dropped. In fact, exclude for this trouble, it however feels novel.

I purchased a Lenovo laptop and not also 2 months went by earlier the left hinge began separating. We proceeded to apply the laptop until I eventually brought it into Frys and they said that it may be would be covered below producers warranty. I brought it to the Lenovo repair center and they said that it was customer-induced and will not play for it. The small screw that holds then hinge strips extremely simply and is the cause of this plan flaw.
