Thread: Macbook 2, Inbuilt Sound Halted Working later on Snow Leopar

I have a macbook 2,1, the white one.Has anybody else had their veritable inbuilt sound merely stopworking right later updating to Snow leopard? I can acquire sound toplay via headphones, but once I up plug them the small sound icon inthe menu bar will Grey out and I will not be capable to acquire soundto play via the internal speakers.

If I go to the Sys Pref >Sound > Output Pane, it will say "The selected device has nooutput controls" in the Settings for Selected Device segment.Anyassist would be great!!! I updated my girlfriends laptop to SnowLeopard also while she could care less. Now she is all mad cause thesound does not work.

I have a MacBook1,1 - on the perfect similar trouble. Works alright with headphones, I acquire startup chime, but shortly later viewer loads the sound icon is abruptly and inexplicably going Grey till yet I apply headphones. Clearly there is nothing wrong on my sound card - and I did not have any problem yet updating to 10.6.1

Turns out it was just concurrence in my case, that it was right after I upgraded. After posting that, I remarked a red light arriving out of my headphone jack. I plugged in few headphones and mildly wiggled the plug like I pulled it out. Red light went off and sound alternatives arrived rear.

Perfect same trouble, except that I can not acquire the inbuilt speakers to work by wiggling the headphone cord. I can listen to sound via my headphones, but not via the speakers. In the system taste there is no alternative below "output" for inbuilt speakers, merely the alternative to select headphones. It is actually odd. You easily wiggled a cord? I however have the red internal light. Did you lately install/uninstall anything? Any ideas?

I have had the same trouble with my MacBook Pro 17" later upgrading to Leopard and it proceeds on Snow Leopard. Resetting PRAM restores merely the begin up chime and then it the sound output stops. Headphones work alright and the headphone output displays up in the sound predilection pane.

When headphones are unplugged the predilection pane only shows the digital sound output. If this is a driver matter, the driver appears to disappear with it is own. Any other thoughts out there?

I do not think this is a driver matter, but I am experiencing the perfect same matter like everybody else. I have been able to acquire the opening chime sound, but that is everything. One minute the sound was working fine, then I used headphones for a few hours, then the sound stopped! I am presently with hold with apple in wishes that somebody can afford me few insight like to what occurred.

Many of the forums out there say the trouble happened later yanking out a set of headphones and may be fixed by poking a toothpick in the headphone socket or wiggling the headphone jack. Many posts tell this worked but did not work for me.

My trouble began when I inherited a MacBook Pro 17 inch laptop on OS 10.5.6 installed with it, but the machine had no built in sound and the only driver showing in the sound preference pane was the digital output driver. I updated to OS 10.6, then OS 10.6.1 and the trouble proceeded. I then wiped the disk and installed OS 10.5.1 and did a combo updater to 10.5.8, then installed OS 10.6. The trouble was however there.

I had perfectly the same trouble and the thought of including to do everything those re-installs scared me, rather frankly, thus I went for the gentle nudging with a toothpick alternative. That did not work - therefore I acquired a set of headphones and attempted inserting and removing the jack a some times. This did nothing.

I then attempted on the same jack but like I inserted it, I applied downward pressure to the rubber molding of the jack, thus in effect aiming the pin of the jack at the upper, within segment of the jack socket to attempt poking at whatever connection may be stuck! I repeated this many times - slowly applying pressure to the rubber moulding in all directions and when I removed it each time, I waited for the red light tome arrive rear, which it always did.

Great! That worked for me a treat. I had the same thing of having sound just via the headpones but not the speakers. Sound incon grey'd out, red light from the jack etc.I keep a headphone jack in the hole and afforded it a good old shove and certain plenty, the sound icon began working again. Macbook OS X 10.5.8 sound halted working, sound alternatives lists just inbuilt Output and below the settings component for them it states that the selected device has no output controls. The volume bar is full but there is a circle on a line slashed via it. No red light in the headphone socket. I bot applied headphones and updated earlier sound stopped working. Headphones however functional and I acquire begin up chime.

I read via many similar threads and attempted re-booting, command+control+P+R and updating. I attempted plucking in and wiggling the headphone cord, it did not work. Did this numerous times until I acquired the red light in the headphone socket. Attempted then pressing the metal bars with the within with both slopes of the socket.

The other one turned the red light of but no sound and light arrived rear. Then pressed firmly both down till yet light did not return anymore and re-began computer. Sounds working exactly now, there was obviously a glitch in the headphone socket that prevented the functioning of the output device.
