Thread: 5101 awlni vista to XP

My machine is an Acer aspire 5101AWLMi.It arrived with windows XP installed. My son,bless his cotton seaboots thought he was doing me a favor by updating to Vista. Sincethen nothing has gone right. I can not detect the disks that arrivedon it thus what disks will I want to buy from you to, a/ format thedrive and b/re-set up all.

Sorry its brought a though to respond, we have had few techie trouble on our servers, anyway you will want any version of XP that you can lay down your hands with once you have installed windows then apply our recovery CD to put your drivers factory software and setup rear to the original Acer factory settings. I wish that assists.

Many thanks for your time and assist, first do I have to format the hard drive? Would it be the Acer recovery CD restore disk I will requirement or is there one more relevant to my machine?

The format process is part of the XP setup, thus if it asks you and you have no vital data to save then say yes to the format, and do a long format as that will as well do a basic hard disk drive assure and map out any bad sectors. The recovery CD restore disk is the one you need
