Thread: High temps for gaming without encouragement

Hi everybody, I acquired my l502xrefurbish like a substitution. It appears like while the temps areabnormally high. I ran heroes of newerth (like warcraft 3), for about30-40 minutes, and these were the max temps. This is even with maxCPU performance set at 99%. I however have full care warranty leftfor about 3 months, what should I do?

Call Dell or talk to them through chat. Few thing is obviously wrong. They will m,ay be send a tech to substitute your mobo or heating/fan system. whole thing should be relatively painless.

Any other ideas? Would they actually substitute only because I tell them I think it runs so hot

I assume these temps are occurring although you are applying it on a desk and that it has adequate ventilation? If so, they do appear a little with the high slope. Most likely, it is a poor paste job throughout manufacture.

There is a direct on the site to correct the issue yourself, but it requires a lot of disassemble to do it. You may need to view how that might affect your warranty if you attempt it. Otherwise, log a call with Dell. When the engineer arrives out, show him the re-paste guide with this site and ask him to follow it!

In my experience, dell is fairly simple going on sending out a repair tech. Commonly I just tell them that my computer is overheating and tell tehm the temps. Do you acquire any shutdowns at all? I feel as your CPU temp might be fairly close to a shutdown. If you do acquire shutdowns, then dell will substitute the heating system faster.

And the xps 15 is not very fun to take aside, thus I recommend only including the dell tech guy do it for you. And if you acquire a chance, attempt to remove the plastic "dust filter" that covers the within part of the vent with the bottom of your laptop. You will notice significantly improved air flow and lower temps.

They are replacing the motherboard, heatsinks, and fan. I am going to ask the tech if I can apply arctic silver 5 rather than the wax pads they apply since the laptop is going to be already open.
