    Default Laptop wifi

I have a fujitsu lr1703 laptop. Whenconnecting to wifi at home, I merely acquire 2 bars with theconnection. And struggle to hold the signal, as well when next to mynew router. Any thoughts people.

As you said this occurs at home, does this intend you have better experiences elsewhere? If thus, the usual advice is to view the possibility of interference by another device. The simplest thing might be to alter the channel if you have not attempted that.

If you are actually in the same room as the router then few interference or setting is whacked. If you have physical software. To alter the frequency selection, do that. As well, depending upon your router if it "is not multi-freq" capable, you have a mismatch if your laptop wifi requires say, or level of signals as a,b,c,g,n, as 802.11n your router supplies and/or known Channels -OR- the type of antenna has been compromised in not letting best attenuation/reception.

As well, few routers may "auto-select" to maintain anything due to other wifi devices to contain routers in conflict to best have any signal acquire out. Everything this and more maybe at work outside of the room in question. Thus supply more details of the setup. The best test is to place the laptop very close to the router and it maintains a low level, then something is amiss more hardware wise or a real mismatch like in old router vs. new laptop or reverse. If your wifi devices have any "firmware" updates, test to watch if possible to update.

Had the same troubles at a friends house. He had only renewed his talk talk router the same like mine. Could only acquire two bars. But hub down the road displays five bars, but is encoded thus can not attempt. Is there a setting to modify in the computer?

Are you saying, that prior to this "talk talk router" being reconsidered that everything was well? If so, then that process whatever it did was not all that good. As, the same result occurs elsewhere, then that could be a clue. Although you state your laptop however displayed the same low bars, does his as well? Answer that, you have clues as to what maybe required for a fix. This is why, details matter, so back-track to the point as to why you are here now.

Or particularly to a friend. Turns out the router was set to few Euro WiFi channel and the merely way it would work was within a few feet. The fix was easy as we set the router back to the US channels.

However will not remain connected, no problems with my new laptop. Must be something on the adapter. Attempting to fix thus can sell. Everything else works alright including modem and Ethernet.
    I am in UK.
