Performance ratings of CPUs at tomshardware website has no meaning like Notebook manufacturers do not manufacture all the CPUs. I am interested in available notebooks. I require a standalone unit on long battery life for field work.

So far the higher the CPU power and work, the lower the hours. For example my quite nice laptop on 5+ hours plummets to bare 2 when I run an intensive piece of work. What you are asking for is not made until. You can detect very nice high powered laptops compared to last year but not one goes past a some hours when we do something heavy or stressful.

I can sacrifice battery life vs-a-vis brute computational power ( i7 or greater) by carry an additional battery pack. Sorry for not taking this up before. I as well look for something like 18" to 24" wide the screen. Fussy chap, me ?

In the U.S., Germany, U.K. Switzerland we have people in this advanced area. Ex., ROCK of U.K. But unfortunately ROCK is break as few employee of theirs stole a monumental amount of inventory. Its something like micro beers. What does NT stand for? I experience about Dell Alienware. You watch I live at Mumbai, India and can merely take info. Via the WEB. Still you , probably, are in the U.S. Now there are few small, hi-tech companies which manufacture niche products and are merely locally experienced.

Displays are the biggest you can acquire. I have an Acer 8950G on a i7 second generation processor. I acquired above 4 hours of battery life. Newegg has the 8951G but I do not think you can removed the battery. I even have an Acer 9810 dual core processor on a 20.1 inch display. It acquired as 1.5 hours only browsing the web. If you look at Newegg the 18.4 inch the have a few Toshiba's that are out of stock, the older Acer 8943 that has the first generation i7 and the Alienware that is pretty well loaded that imagine might acquire above 2 hours at least,.
