My inspiron 8100 will not switch at all (no lights, no nothing). I slashed it down and found a LOOSE DC power board. I replaced the board, and unsoiled all contacts. I put it back together and it booted right up. It runs fine using the AC adapter, but it will not accuse the batteries. The one battery had 5 green lights and the other battery had 4 green lights when I started. Now they are both released and will no longer charge. I bought a new AC adapter and I still have the same issue. Does this sound like a bad DC power board?

Occasionally what will occur is the onboard fuse will waft. The fuse will be outside mount and very close to the battery incurable points, white or yellowish component about 5mm. but do read the constituent data on the board. Expect this has helped.

Ops forgot to talk about; the fuse is there to defend the battery.

That’s not factual; I know it was a bit rude for the first fraction of the thread.
But it does magnetize the correct people with this difficulty.

If I can help I love to help Notice I am in the UK so most of any jobs I could never admit.

Ibleet, have I tried to sell you anything? No the answer is "NO" I have only tried to help you. The sites I file have had many good remarks as it guides people through the simple diagnostics of this problem.

I cover this problem not for the money but more so because i feel people have been resentful by the companies that produce these weak computers.

Hello!!! I got very helpful your remarks; I hope you stay doing this, it’s huge. I desire to ask you, I have a Compaq V2000 that does not twist on. It will only turn on the power light and blink few others. I think it is the DC power board, but it is part of the motherboard. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

If you have the difficulty like this:

You switch on and you only obtain lights and lights switch off and on about 3 or 4 times then switches off it could be the Motherboard.

But essentially remove the powerjack problem by removing battery, check what happens when you try to switch on. if no lights then carefully but firmly wriggle the power Plug that is inserted in the jack side to side and see if you can get the lights to stay on. You can tell pretty much straight away if it does. Hold it in that position and see if you get anything on screen, if so let it boot up a little then move the plug, if it switches off then we are clear it is the powerjack. What happens at the very first instance when you boot up your computer is Bios then GPU (Graphics chip).

Lights remain irregular until I push and hold the power button, and then it turns off. I already had detached even the cmos battery and the processor, nothing else is fixing to the motherboard and it does precisely the same. Someone said that it could be the DC over board, but it is part of the motherboard, so I can not replace it, but I considered that there would be a constituent or something I could replace, I just do not know which one.

    Thanks for the help.

Yes it does noise like the Power Board circuitry; it is likely you won’t be able to revamp that unless you have the skills and tools to check the circuit.

Depending where you are location wise it might not be too expensive to take it to a repair shop, but i doubt that, if you are in the UK you may be able to surprise a replacement board (Motherboard), probably a lot less if you go second hand and you can find one. I wouldn’t expend more than that on your machine unless it’s dear to you.

You will still be able to get your data back using software like "Get Data Back NTFS or FAT".

The cause the jacks remain breaking is from tugging, dragging or jerking on the AC cable.

What you and just about each other Laptop owner wants is a CRD (Cable Restraint Device).

Something that takes the strain in its place of the cable connector at the computer when you jerk or tug or pull on the cable by accident.

How do I recognize this? I had to fix both of our Fujitsu laptops because of the difficulty. I tried to find someone that sold a CRD but no luck so I imaginary one.
