    Default Where is the bottleneck?

I'm annoying to discover where the slowest constituent in my system is, possibly someone here can assist me find it.

Here's my machine specifications: I have a supercharged version (I improved my own parts) of an HP Pavillion P6110f.

Original HP Motherboard made by Asus FSB 800/1066/1333
Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce 9500GT OC version
    Power Supply is 450w
    Intel E8500 3.16ghz Processor FSB 1333mhz
    6gb of DDR2 SDRAM (800mhz)
Maxtor 640GB Hard drive 7200RPM (not sure if its 1.5gb/s or 3.0)

I am annoying to arm this box to the teeth. I recognize I should construct my own scheme from scratch, not attempt to inform a pre-built system, but it is what it is.

Where's the bottleneck? What mechanism should I believe improvement to make this machine faster? Any and all thoughts!

    Hi

Depends what you employ the PC for!

For gaming I would seem at altering the GPU. Also is your OS 64bit?

The 9500GT graphics card is a "piss poor" reason for a graphics card because it's expensive for its weak recital...worthless for modern games at good settings/higher declarations.

    Improve your graphics card/GPU.

I propose an ATI 4870 1GB or GTX260 sp216 or something cheaper but also good, for instance a 4850 or 9800GTX/GTX+/GTS250 for.

    To further elucidate:
Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit OS
The hard drive is 3.0 gb/sec
Graphics card isn't a matter, I don't play any actual games.

The box is a micro ATX mid tower, so bigger graphics cards though will work, will actually spasm the case.

I employ my computer for audio editing. I record bands on a very usual basis and I was thoughts about creation this computer my studio computer. Therefore I require information processing power to be primary. Lots of audio rendering and genuine time plug-in running.

You say you employ it for audio restriction? That's processor concentrated! You actually don't need 6 GB RAM or maybe you do, but if you want faster meting out you require a CPU upgrade.

It counts on what audio software you are employing. Does it know how to use several cores?

You can verify that by giving it a task to make and appearing at the CPU custom under Performance tab (Ctrl+Alt+Del > Start task manager > Performance).

If the CPU is at 100% then it recognizes how to use multiple cores. If it's at 50% (plus or minus 5% then only one core is functioning, so upgrading your CPU is useless).

If your software is multi core-companionable, then check out some middle-ranged quad cores and a honest cooling explanation.

    Hello All

You simply employ it for video restriction?

Get a decent aircooler and overclock your CPU.

Not bad. Now I'm opening to limbering up to the thought of a solid state drive. So lets say I buy a decent 160GB SSD. Should I load my OS on it and run all off it? Or should I utilize the SSD firmly as a file recovering system for my audio files?

That’s' right, MLC drives contain 10 000 times write times but they include wear leveling attribute which spreads writes more than the celss conforming each cell acquires written identical number of times. If you obtain 160GB SSD and write 160GB data to it daily it will take 10 000 days or 27 years for it to wear out. Wear leveling will not work 100% exactly and some cells will not acquire rephrased because they will hold system files that never change and are never removed. So let’s state you can cut that time in half-13years still longer then you perhaps want to use it. If that is not enough you can go for SLC SSD which has 100 000 write times making it last 10 times longer. Just immobilize page file and habitual defragmentation to avoid pointless writes.

Not to strike a dead horse. So is the harmony that my hard drive is my slowest meting out module for shear speed on my computer? Or something else?

I imagine your system is pretty fine in particular that you established that you're not using huge application that demands possessions on your GPUs.

Regarding the SSD, are you thoughts of using that for more than 10 yrs? Technology is fast altering, maybe after a year or 2 there could be huge expansions in hard drive and it would be crucial for you to modify again.

The thing is... SSDs are existing in "testing stage" now, there are still reviews being made, allow it sit for more time. Your scheme appears fine, man.

Hoard your wealth for future promotes.
