How old is your sim card? what kind of sim card you use? Is it a GSMprovider? if your sim card is fairly new and a GSM provider to try the following.

    1 turn off the phone
    2 remove sim card
3 to give 10 seconds and put the sim card in the drive can go as far as their use stylus. ENSURE the sim faces adequately.
4 when the phone switches if it asks if you want to continue in disconnected mode not selected.
5 if it does not ask questions about how to go offline in the phone settings and select the general profile.

If none of this works try another sim card to see if his phone or sim.

    Hello,

I have tried always present and it wont read the sim, but it goes directly to offline mode and the phone works perfectly as it will no sim. I bought the phone on ebay, Christmas and it was on the Orange network but then I got it unlocked for O2 and it worked perfectly.

    How to solve this problem?

I have the same problem with the. Ive been using the Nokia 5800 for 4 months. Working well until recently, when I turn on the phone, it does not display the keyboard to type the PIN of the SIM card, but rather go directly to the wallpaper. I can still see the clock and the battery bar work. But nothing else seems to work. I tried to turn the fone without the sim card in offline mode and it worked normally.

Others wonder why the price of 5800 is too low. But the features are good. And there you go, the answer is given. Hardware problem, the sim card reader is not wise

I tried other sim cards and it worked normally. It turns out the Simcard problem since I tried the sim card with two other Nokia phones and none of them worked. Changed to a new sim. You should try to turn on your phone with another SIM card to see if it works probably.
