    Default Software development for disabled

I am currently a student in secondyear of DUT Informatique. We received an email from our managerasking us to participate in a great initiative.

Indeed in the first year, astudent is disabled and can not use his hands. He can only speak andmove his head.
We need to develop a series of software it easierfor him in his learning (I have not precisely the software to bedeveloped).

We are looking for ideas on howto approach the thing. I think first of all voice recognition seemsto me the obvious choice, but the question of when he wants to codesomething.

For other types of software, Ithought Kinect. Indeed we could use a device of this type to capturethe movements of his head. I also thought the recognition of eyemovement but it seems a bit complicated.

    Hello,

The use of facial recognition software and voice is indeed the best way to do that, and software already exist on the net "Software disabled" => Google. We should not recreate the wheel.

In this case, a good Internet search can still recover a lot of ideas about what is happening or what is possible. Personally, I do know it, but maybe one INpactien connoisseur will know more about it.

Speech recognition is indeed an option, but quite complex if you start from scratch. In addition, the interest may be limited since these kindsof systems (synthesis and voice commands) are now integrated into the OS (the trade anyway).

There are others such as specialized keyboards (usually necessary for large handicaps) ( example of functionality a bit special ), usually accompanied by specific scoring systems, which are less complex in terms of programming but require more investment material.

Thank you. We are waiting for the moment to have a list of project participants to be able to consult on the objectives and what software they need. You should know that barely moves.it moves through a wheelchair controlled by a joystick under her chin, as her disability is to say is important and as the challenge is great.

Unlike others, I would avoid speech recognition.

It is a student, he will have to work in TD / TP, so in a potentially noisy. Difficult to properly set up your voice to discern that his words in a constant uproar. If he can not move, the Kinect may also be problematic.

By cons, a kind of trackball placed behind the head to mice, or in a finger or foot if he can move one?

It can only move my head and not feel that he moves a lot. We met and we started initially on voice recognition and a Slackware specially designed for it with software installed that go directly to the output of the plant.

Hi, Sorry if it's a little late, but this may be of interest for information:

KAR Intelligent Computer assists users with disabilities to use their computer with functions specifically designed to easily adapt to their difficulties:

    1. Follow the cursor through head movement.

    2. Magnifier can enlarge up to 100 times, color adjustment and movement.

    3. Keyboard with automatic adjustment.

    4. Adaptable with voice recognition.

    5. Ability to perform automated manipulation.

    Thanks,
