Xbox live through laptop not working?

i am using a hp pavilion laptop and i am trying to get it to share internet with my 360 i have done all the steps to set it up and it works only sometimes. the problem is that the ip doesnt work. i have tried power cycling and that doesnt work. i called xbox and they said to talk to my internet provider but im not sure if its sbc yahoo or like mozilla/ internet explorer. PLEASE HELP IF SOMONE HAS SETTINGS LIKE IP AND DNS SEND TO ME.

your internet provider is like comcast or whoever you get the cable from or whatever. Mozilla and stuff are browsers. IP and dns are unique to your house, so i can't send you that stuff. Just reset your modem that should work.

Do not use i, use firfox.
