Drivers in San Francisco a few monthsfollowing the conclusion of Driv3r, the title for the first Xbox thathad left us with the protagonist Tanner and Jericho bad boss dying ina hospital in Istanbul, but both survived the experience and whileJericho was shut up in a prison in San Francisco, Tanner has resumedhis work as a policeman in pairs with partner Tobias Jones. That is,until the two patrols, not receiving the notification of escapeduring a transfer of the Jericho prison: so begins a furious chasethat ends with the clash of the two opponents' cars.

Is introduced as the main noveltyof Driver: San Francisco, Shift: a mechanism that allows us, at thetouch of button A, to raise our consciousness that we are driving thecar to see all traffic from the city and take control of any of thesecars. As we do this, Tanner's car does not stop but continues tocarry guided by a sort of automatic pilot or, as Jones would say, from a version of Tanner zombizzata and unconscious itself. Thismechanism changes dramatically the dynamics of what would otherwisehave been a classic free-roaming as a guide, creating a mechanism ofstorytelling that holds together the entire history of the game.
